IAMSAR Manual Survey

Our friends in the United States Coast Guard Office of Search and Rescue have asked us to help them get the word out on the IAMSAR Manual survey they are conducting. For those of you unfamiliar with the IAMSAR Manual it is a manual published jointly by the International Maritime Organization and the International Civil Aviation Organization to provide a guideline for a common approach to maritime and aviation search and rescue services. There are three volumes of the manual which can be used as stand alone documents or in conjunction with the other volumes. The three volumes are broken down as follows:
  • Volume I-Organization and Management
  • Volume II- Mission Coordination
  • Volume III- Mobile Facilities
The IAMSAR Manual is the "checklist" used by search and rescue authorities when establishing, organizing, and executing cases. Volume III is also used and carried by many commercial airlines.

That said, the working group responsible for bringing you the IAMSAR Manual would like your input. Please take a moment to answer the 10 questions so a better manual can be developed for your use. Your participation is appreciated.
