Amver ship rescues French sailor

The Amver participating ship Sebring Express rescued a French sailor Thursday Feb. 3, 2011 approximately 1,300 miles east of Puerto Rico after his sailboat was possibly stuck by a whale.  The Frenchman, sailing from the Canary Islands to Guadeloupe, was unharmed and will be dropped off in Jacksonville, Florida when the Sebring Express docks on Feb. 9, 2011.  The Coast Guard will be on hand to present a certificate of appreciation and Amver pennant to the Philippine flagged ship.

The Sebring Express enrolled in Amver on Sep. 21, 2010.  The Philippine flagged car carrier is managed by Vroon B.V. of the Netherlands.

The Captain of the Sebring Express summed things up best by saying "... he's very lucky because God is with us..."

Here is a recording between the Sebring Express and Coast Guard rescue authorities.
